dont judge me by my past. i don't live there anymore.

the new single from metronomy is a tale of love and hate that unfolds in a beautiful open space inhabited by tribes of wild animals. it's video strays away from the band's usual penchant for decadent environments but somehow still manages to connect with the song's simple and delicate message.

metronomy - "everything goes my way"

biggest thing in my itty bitty world.

it's birthday season. when all of my virgo and libra friends celebrate another rotation around the sun. and despite our youthful appearances (asians are blessed i know), we've all crossed into our late 20s and are constantly contemplating the happiness within our lives and the relevance of choices we make.

so go ahead and add another candle on that cake. cause at the end of the day, we are all still young, dumb and full of something that rhymes.

don't beat yourself up for being too blind.

the lyrics to is tropical's latest single, "lies" narrates a story of exploited sexuality and the emptiness that surrounds it. the corresponding super NSFW video captures the sexcapades of a woman apparently caught between the emotional cross-hares of her choices.

the mysterious london trio's debut album, native to, is available now via kitsune.

stay young, go dancing.

piecing together a lifetime of photos with a black and white live performance, the latest video from nyc's holy ghost! is a timeline of chemistry that translates from what appears to be a solid friendship to an even better bond of musicianship.

wake me when it's over.

saturday is brought to you by the color green. does it signify money? personify jealousy? or maybe it symbolizes below the belt urges of the adult kind?

in any case, check out my two favorite green themed tracks for the day. the slow burning sweetness of real estate's "green aisles" and the jazz takeover of aloe blacc's "green lights (live in berlin)".

animate the magic inherent in the world.

most friday mornings i am lazier than life. i usually make myself a decadent breakfast and wonder where the day will take me. this morning i woke up bright and early to have my breakfast with a room full of strangers all looking for one thing: inspiration.

this was my second creative morning and it turned out to be one of the best lectures i've ever had the pleasure of being a part of. candid, hilarious, moving and hopeful, sharon ann lee of @culturebrain impressed the crowd in just 20 minutes with a handful of anecdotes, rap lyrics and positive guidance.

creative mornings you are a gem and mrs lee, you were a northern star.

the past, the present and the possible.

i remember them dearly. the garage parties of my youth. where just slow dancing with someone had you running home beaming, listening to "i'll make love to you" wondering if it was too early to call it your song. but then came the shift in speed when boyz ll men and shai were put on the back burner for a little something called the SO SO DEF BASS ALL STARS.

if you are unfamiliar, go ahead and slap yourself in the face. otherwise, feel free to reminisce about the first time you learned how to freak dance and if your body roll was a natural talent or something you worked oh so hard to achieve.

upstart ny outfit, friends, have covered the classic ghost town djs track "my boo" and with a cowbell chorous cameo, have done it some damn justice.

i wrote about this song back in february and despite the clouds being a little less dreary nowadays, a little positive reinforcement on a monday couldn't hurt.

conciousness depends on manipulating time.

in between long days and even longer nights, it's easy to forget the separation of time. due in large part to the obvious bags underneath your eyes, when you're finally ready for some rest, there's usually a brief second right before that allows for a thoughtful contemplation of the weekend's episodes.

the next time this happens, listen to this jam from UK producer pinemarten and realize that it was all worth it.

ain't like you to hold back, or hide from the light.

chad valley's music hits in a rapid succesion like the wind when traveling with open windows. you can feel it pinch and overwhelm until it's eventually tousled your exterior. the latest lucy bridger directed video for "shell suite" shows an equal entrancement with the music, but without much of a disheveled aftermath.

chad valley's mini masterpiece, equatoral ultravox EP, is available now.

please remind my heart and lungs, it's only possible to live one day at a time.

earlier this year we jumped countries trying to get a grip on the language of the locals. check out the latest installments, including one that hits closest to the bright lights of home.

i don't wanna be in love with just anybody.

i really enjoy the active child and how to dress well collab, "playing house". and despite knowing that these two pasty white boys make sexy mixtape-esque bedrockers, it's kind of a different story actually seeing them dramatically romp around in a foggy room doing their best titanic handprint impressions

it's unintentionally hilarious at times, but maybe they're also in on the joke as HTDW's tom krell cracks a cute end smile around the 2:02 mark.

kiss, kiss, bang, bang,

a lifespan is a billion heartbeats.

everything moves with fluidity and flickers of change whether we notice or not. the goal is to achieve inspiration in spite of life's curves and to surround ourselves with as many loved ones in case of emergencies or celebrations. it's been 10 years since the tragedy of 9/11. but it's also been 10 years since i walked into my parents living room as a fresh 17 year-old and realized that the day i was born would forever mean so much more.

9/11 symbolizes different things to different people. and this year in particular, i wanted that day to be as low key as possible, finding it's beauty in the faces with whom i decided to spend my quiet time with rather than intoxicated antics and next day headaches. i'm in a very different mindset than i was just a year ago and for the first birthday in a minute, i remembered everything. despite a terrifying almost head-on collision at the tail-end of the night, i came home happy, super full (i managed to fit in 5 celebratory meals) and in the most appreciative and reflective state of mind.

i'm thankful for all of the greetings, gifts and sentiments. my past missteps have made me even more grateful for all of the spaces in between. to another 365 and beyond!

silver wishbones, apartment surprises and a few tigers,

and under no circumstances, should you ever utter the phrase "i wanna hang out with you in my panties". one of us, hilariously learned the hard way.

i used to care and want you back, but now i think you're off track.

the break-up song that almost everyone can relate to, now has a split screen video. a mash-up of old-school footage of kids cutting loose with clips of the london duo singing in a vintage house, it's got an instagram-looking filter that seems to play to the band's throwback vibe.

listen to the equally awesome b-side, "probably right" over here.

off to seattle to cause some trouble for a few days. BRB dear blog.

run my mind in circles trying not to think of you.

the latest single from sarasota springs twosome, phantogram, infuses a vulnerable tale of unrequited love with a rad assortment of syncopated cuts over stressed beats. it's accompanying video shares in it's distorted rhythms through reflections of the band blanketed in darkness and kaleidoscopic views.

tired eyes hypnotized by your teenage sex.

it's a musical hat-trick for neon indian as i've fallen in love with the third straight single off his forthcoming record, era extrana. "hex girlfriend" embodies a teenage love affair that shines off layers of static and synths. whether it's lust, love or perhaps even psychic forces beyond their earthly control, the song narrates a story about attraction and pubescent confusion.

his sophomore album will drop in a little over a week via mom + pop.

nothing to me feels as good as laughing incredibly hard.

a few weeks ago, my friends (sophie and nina) and i decided to volunteer for FYF fest in exchange for free tickets. i attended the event last year and despite too much dust, long ass lines and a drunken misstep at the afterparty, i enjoyed myself. this year promised to have taken care of many issues from last year's clusterfuck and you know what? it delivered. the lines were manageable, water was readily available and the dust...well you can't do much about that.

after the most hilarious lunch in recent memory, we managed to take the gold line in and arrive just in time for cults. a 9 dollar sailor jerry drink later we caught the tail end of cold war kids. after trying to finish my carne asada burrito in record time, we realized we wouldn't make it to see four tet (sadface) so we ended up watching broken social scene's beautiful 50 minutes. yacht from super far sounded fun and then the main event (at least for me) was nosaj thing. a brand new audio and visual set made it even more amazing then i remembered. a quick bee-line to the honeycomb lights of simian mobile disco and we wrapped it up with a stellar explosions in the sky nightcap.

free tickets are always ace, but good friends to share the day with make the memories even sweeter.

what i wanna change is what brings me down.

the new single from south carolina producer hard mix feels like a collisions of sounds that manages to find a delicious coherence.
