don’t go searching for a subject, let your subject find you.

aww yeaaaaaaaah. valentine's day 2013 plans.

there's doors we don't do,

the best song wasn't the single.

when you're thinking about building a life with someone, you want it to stretch out as long as possible. you'd like to make enough room for adventures, heartbreaks and forgiveness when necessary. because while you may have an idea of what may be in store, there's no accounting for the other half of your whole.

lose your hang ups, find your calling.

female friendships are complex little fuckers. we bitch, we moan, we love, we appreciate, we miss and we apologize (well, some of us do). sometimes our bonds are infinite. other times they sadly become nothing more than a fond but passing memory.

in terms of the silver screen, it's rare to see the genuine closeness of bitches (used in this case lovingly, not derogatory) in our natural habitats, when friendship turns into a type of sisterhood that requires the occasional declaration of love and affection.

if you've ever had a BFF, i highly recommend 'for a good time, call...' not only does it hit the complicated nail right on the head, but it all goes down in a world full of hilarious phone sex operating. this is one of my favorite movies this summer and after talking to the talented folks behind the film, can't wait for others to share in my joy.

happiness. it comes on unexpected and goes beyond any early morning talk about it.

building a fire is a process. it begins with gathering and preparation. once the flame is ignited, you nurture and will the spark until it eventually leads you towards a blanket of warmth and heat.

this track from boston outfit, sonnymoon, takes a vary similar path. it's a slowburner that's worth its eventual blaze.

hiding the keys to your vault. i'll have you running back and forth.

when it's 78 degrees on a saturday in los angeles, you should turn this all the way up.

the function and the form.

the canadians are getting classy. pinky's up.

stir it like a bandit.

is your love big enough?

chad valley is at his very best when there's someone equally as sultry on the other line of his call and response crooning. with his new single, he's recruited los angeles' very own glasser (aka cameron mesirow) and the result is on par with the uncontainable excitement of a very successful and mutually connected first date.

you got a double, who brings you trouble.

the new kisses video for "johnny & mary" makes me wanna travel somewhere far away in a primary color blazer and do nothing but talk to strangers.

hard to promise when all my thoughts are hiding.

sometimes when you're not in the best of moods or stable state of mind, it's best to let certain things just pass you by. otherwise you're liable to make a questionable situation worse or make a blatant mistake under the guise of 'not caring'.

in her new single, swedish songbird el perro del mar appears to have made the conscious effort to avoid a minefield of regret and lyrically decides to just move things along.

how can i be strong? i've asked myself time and time again.

this song will always remind me of being a youngster unable to understand real love but thinking i did because of the knowledge i absorbed watching semi-provocative early 90s r&b music videos.

you were dumb and i was blind.

it's time to get white girl wasted because grimes has an incredible and nonsensical new music video out.

nothing beats a classic.

i had no interest in seeing the expendables when it made a bunch of money in theaters two years ago. but i was sent to cover it's bigger and badder sequel some time last week. it's safe to say that it was so bad it was good. i found myself constantly laughing. whether or not i was supposed to be laughing...well to each is own. if you want to see old guys blow shit up, then this is the movie for you this weekend.

i also got to talk to former ufc champ turned soft spoken actor randy couture and british nice guy scott adkins at the press junket.

old guys, old balls

you let it go, don't let it stay.

besides brave, it's been quite a long time since I sat down and watched a PG movie. however, it's actually kinda refreshing to be entertained with simple sweetness rather than special effects, raunch or mind-fucking loops. a few weeks ago i got sent to cover the odd life of timothy green. i walked away with two very distinct revelations. 1) joel edgerton is really talented and handsome. 2) i will probably measure all future child acting ability to charming newcomer CJ adams.

family movies aren't for everyone, but this one was cute enough to leave an impression and a crush on mr. edgerton. i wrote this and that if you were interested.

i do all these dumb things, i think in all these distorted ways. now i'm burning up.

my two week absence from you dear blog found my schedule full with work and personal commitments. it also found me resurrecting my blend of foolish and unnecessary antics. while the highlights were so meaningful, the setbacks were especially tough. as i navigate back from the unpredictable and unfortunate, i find relief in an old favorite.

LA duo, kisses, have been a staple since i fell in love with them two years ago. while patiently waiting for new material has been occasionally challenging, when they do release something it's always worth the wait.

welcome back jesse and zinzi, i've missed you.

you always make a mess out of every situation.

some things are quintessentially better when the sun goes down. that seeping darkness allows for a different kind of movement and a sense of alternate freedom. it's not necessarily that it's more difficult to see, it's that certain things shouldn't be seen.

the new single from recent stones throw signee, chrome canyon, feels like a night drive with only a quarter visibility for what's going on in the backseat.

i am lured by faraway distances, the immense void i project upon the world.

you always make me feel like i'm slipping in way too deep.

everything stops when jessie ware drops a new single. and you know what. that's how it should be.

life isn’t about finding yourself. life is about creating yourself.

there's a different sense of intimacy when you're having a conversation while laying down. it's easier to get comfortable and hash things out. or sometimes, you're just so defeated you can't even muster the strength to roll out of bed and deal with things.

though joy or pain, it's surprising just how candid people can become when their words are supported by a mattress or the cold reality of the floor.

this is just the neighborhood, they aren't around for good.

this video reminds me that some of my favorite people at varying times of my life have up and moved to new york.

somewhere to disappear.

the only good thing about the total recall remake is that the cast is ridiculously attractive and gave charming interviews.

this is what i wrote about the press junket.
