isn't it sad? im immune.

some people are born with a certain spark that never evaporates no matter how many years on the calendar pass. forever young and quintessentially cool, the age on their drivers license is ultimately irrelevant. i guess nick millhiser and alex frankel from holy ghost! should thank their lucky stars for their dna. cause if their father's look so effortlessly cool living up the new york life in skinny pants and leather jackets, they definitely have a rad-dad future ahead of them.

peep the new video "wait and see" from the nyc duo and please check out their awesome self-titled debut (which you can actually stream here).

now the problems in me, are in you.

if i ever feel better, remind me to spend some good time with you.

i've only been chased through the desert once, so I have to give the hero of hooray for earth's new video mad props for his stamina and sheer will. i myself didn't make it very far, but i'm lazy and also didn't have a magical dust cloud to aid in my journey.

but i guess when you're running for a purpose (in this case: true love), then i guess escaping to rescue your better half is the only real option. but as always in music videos (especially one's this beautifully shot), there's always a twist. and per usual, when talking about love, relationships and survival - the twist is usually in the form of an (e)x.

when the plans slip your hands, little man.

the idea of everything eventually falling into place is both a blessing and a curse. sometimes it's just the idea of hope that fuels our daily grind. other times, it's also discouraging as hell to wait for something you can't prove with concrete evidence.

that's the paradox that this jam from swedish foursome, little dragon, brings to the table in this live clip from sf video masterminds, yours truly. considering the climate of the economy as well as my own personal trials and tribulations with life's inconsistencies, this song couldn't have dropped at a more perfect time.

when i get paid, my checks look like phone numbers.

"zerts are what i call desserts. tray-trays are entrees. i call sandwiches sammies, sandoozies or adam sandlers. air conditioners are cool-blasterz with a z. i don't know where that came from. i call cakes, big ass cookies! i call noodles long-ass rice. fried chicken is fri-fri chicky-chicky. chicken parm is chicky chicky parm parm. chicken cacciatore? chicky catch. i call eggs pre-birds, or future birds. root beer is super water. tortillas are bean blankets and i call forks...food rakes" - tom haverford

i’m up and down that way, it’s easier to say that i'm doing okay.

always a sucker for an unconventional love story. check out what happens when a forgotten bicycle and an old fashioned sewing machine meet and fall in love.

high quality, low standards.

lately time has treated me with an air of inconsistency. some days vanish so quickly that i'm never quite sure why they even existed in the first place. other days are lengthened by harsh pricks and probes until i just kind of feel defeated. it's either good or bad and not a moment to claim in between.

it's created an emotional scatterbrain that's unfortunately misplaced the veil of calmness i often try to hide behind. this feeling bears an uncanny similarity to the new b-side from brooklyn trio, yeasayer. three cheers for a new wind to arrive, taking away with it everything old, unnecessary and haunting.

believe me sweetie, i got enough to feed the needy.

put up with me and i'll make you see.

the other day i was at a coffee shop with my friend LC. i got a double cap and she got some sort of green tea. on the way out, she was looking for some sweetner and yelled, "honey!" i deadpanned, "umm, my name is tristen". the barista chuckled and said he says that joke about twice a week.

i don't think much about the creation and preparation of the sweet and sticky condiment, but the video below gives you a great look at honey in the big city.

how you gonna win when you ain't right within?

a few days ago i got to check out stones throw first direct-to-vinyl show featuring my future husby, mister mayer hawthorne. the space was rad although the free drinks were a tad too sweet for my liking. and what a dapper double breasted jacket!

side B:

side C (yes, a magical third side):

since my gnarly blackberry pics don't actually do the place any justice, peep la weekly's recap with pictures HERE.

i remember it all, whether it happened or not.

i'm sure i speak for the majority when i say that most people have memories tied to the idea of a polaroid picture. and it's not a stretch to say that many were collectively bummed when they decided to shut down film production in 2008. check out this 10 minute chat with one of the men responsible for helping to bring the film (and instant photographic gratification) back in 2010.

the problems in me, are in you.

since i'm not partaking in the actual festival taking place in the desert this weekend, i am going to cloud myself with new gems and old favorites to get thru the next few days.

allow me to introduce you to gem number one: beachesbeaches from the shores of bellingham, washington. six songs, no words, all free. download it via their bandcamp.

making mozzarella, making world's better.

i went to a private school from first to eight grade in a suburb near pasadena. so naturally, the friends you made in fourth grade - when you were just figuring out what you thought was cool - stayed your best friends till you moved on up to high school. such was the case with vanessa, erin and maria. we spent almost every non-important holiday together for four years and basically taught each other the baby steps into real friendship. and apparently we were also the mean girls in our class (a gem i didnt find out till...well now. haha)

anyhow, high school seems like forever ago and college flew by and we haven't all hungout together since we were the tender age of 14. so thanks to facebook (naturally), we decided it was finally time to reconnect. it was nice to catch up, talk shit, reminisce and of course, test each other's drinking limits.

cheers to old friends and even older memories.

you are not invited to the other side of sanity.

the sheer magnitude of construction, planning, execution and detail made me fall in love with this clip. who cares that it's actually trying to sell you a phone because all i'm really sold on is the sound of johann sebastian bach's cantata 147, jesu, joy of man's desiring floating in a remote forest oasis.

for me it isn't over.

not a day goes by that i don't purchase some, make a cup for myself or slip in a few sips of a friends tasty beverage. espresso, my true love indeed.

it's the memory of our betters, that are keeping us on our feet.

a california summer is the quintessential reminder of carefree days and innocent nostalgia. the sun-kissed youth chasing after the opposite sex, the long drives nowhere with the windows rolled down, or the super late nights feeding one's ever-expanding desires. it's romantic without being corny and symbolizes a sense of adventure for all of it's ageless patrons.

peep san diego trio dirty gold gush about their favorite california moments below.

trying to decide. are you really worth my time?

i have commited to memory everything you ever said.

break glass, not hearts.

sometimes the best intentions, need redemption. don't you think?

it's been a long time since i took a vacation strictly for leisure. that had nothing to do with work, family or obligation. i've been itching to get out of dodge for quite sometime and every time i drop off someone at the airport, i just want to yell fuck it and jump on the next plane out. so while the timing of tennis' new video is perfect, it's a slight bummer to be watching it stuck in a stationary situation.
