do right and kill everything.

seeing how math is not my strong suit, let me try to explain the origin of this summer jam in two oh-so-simple equations.

"paris" (written by friendly fires) + aeroplane on the remix tip = FIRE (no pun intended).

take the instrumentals from the said fire above + vocals from a track called "crave" (written by flight facilities) = inferno.

I Crave Paris by Aeroplane (Official)

i crave paris too,

every night's a different story, its a 30 car pile up with you.

trading her nitty-gritty one-liners for a slick guest vocalist role in the latest single from eli escobar, amanda blank certainly doesn't miss a beat (or house step). heart of glass meets the streets of new york, this video is definitely one to rotate in the backdrop of all upcoming rooftop parties.

love thing,
t

if you're with it, then im with it.

but you and me, we're just crazy.

ive lived in southern california my entire life. i never studied abroad, i never went away for college and my parents never had to relocate for work. and despite the fact that im not really the beach blanket type of person, the sunny california mindset of carelessness and fun has been all ive ever really known. this ultimately led me to become an instant believer in the tunes of Best Coast. not only does it ooze the quintessential soCal summer groove, but like a page out of your teenage journal, it relates stories of simple boy/girl dynamics that remind you of that certain someone at an unforgettable time in your life.

i was at the fader fort a few times during SXSW and i really wanted to catch this set, but this will do for now. mark those calenders - best coast's debut, crazy for you, drops july 27th via (the appropriately named) mexican summer.

my momma always told me there'd be boys like you,
t

i made an excuse and you found another way to tell the truth.

one of the very first yours tru.ly videos i fell in love with was the morning benders' ethereal clip for "excuses". it had me at hello and it lived on repeat for over 2 weeks. it all seemed so sincere and romantically organic as christopher chu's vocals floated above a bed of instrumentation from the bay echo orchestra.

thankfully, they cut another video from that session. check out the berkeley foursome get by with more than a little help from their friends below.

i grabbed some frozen strawberries, so i could ice your bruised knees.

i could really go for a cup.
right about...

now!

and i pray that someone quits me, before i have to stop.

despite their penchant for off the wall visual offerings, Animal Collective have managed to create a clip that perfectly personifies the current sun-kissed season. the latest video from 2009's stellar Merriweather Post Pavilion interweaves vintage footage of surfers, sandcastles and bikini bums, with a current trip to a local skate shop.

smiled and said, "yes i think we've met before"

a few months ago my employed alter ego wrote this about Stars' latest single, "fixed".

"When things are classified as broken, responsibility needs to fall upon someone. However, it’s tough to get someone to admit they’re at fault, especially when the blame is about a relationship at an unfortunate stand-still. Canadian indie rock outfit, Stars have returned with their first single since 2007. Filled with dance grooves, guitar rips and slick vocals that make you feel like you're floating away, "Fixed", not only takes responsibility for it's relationship faults, but is making a conscious decision to walk (or dance) away."

now peep the stripped down, possibly hungover KCRW offering.

fisticuffed,
t

sleep, eat food and have visions.

this seriously makes me want to hi-jack a boat/raft/surfboard/floatie and live as a pirate on the east coast this summer.
TENNIS, ive only heard 3 of your songs, but the score is definitely 30 - love.

shipwrecked,

what i wanted to tell you, i hoped to see you there.

i just made a glass of lemonade, opened the door and let the hot air in. this is what i heard.

summer breezes,
t

listen to the girl, as she takes on half the world.

after 3 years of defining work roles, carving out daily schedules and finding comfort in routine, i decided it was time to unplug. taking with me a mountain of experience and a handful of good friends, im currently off the beaten path and am enjoying a certain lack of responsibility.

in lemans terms, im between jobs right now (#funemployed) and while trying to figure out where im going to make my next home, this blog will chronicle the next few months of my life. an indefinite summer indeed! so welcome to my temporary (work) space.

...and for those wondering about the name of this fine blog. it stems from an inside joke that originated in Austin, that cements my theory that deep down, i really am a genius (despite my awesome struggles in math and science).

so put it on a napkin and find it!
